Woohoo! Thanks for asking this. I've been meaning to ask this for awhile. I've had my Media Center m1070n for 1 1/2 years now and it's awesome...but will be even more awesome when I actually hook up the TV and get that working. I just ordered a 300gb Personal Media Drive as a backup and that should be arriving in a few days. Good luck with yours Troy!

As mentioned, I'm not hooked up to the TV yet with this, but from my understanding, yes, you can program and record to DVDs or harddrives and I think you can also set it to NOT record the commercials. This will be fun! :-) I'm sure you'll be hooked up before me so let me know how it goes, if you will.

when i figure this out i will post it here,
footman, real quick,

my cable comes from my wall into a splitter, from there one cable goes to the tv, and one cable goes to my modem,
now from the modem side i CAN split it and work

does it matter if the cable is already split from the wall,

nah, it doesn't matter... the truth is there are probably spliters all over your house.

However, since you have a splitter after it comes from the wall, I'd replace it with a 3-way splitter with a cable for your cable modem, TV and cable input on your computer. The fewer splitters in the mix, the less chance for noise.

It works fine, i downloaded my local tv guide and everything and i just set it to record, as far as the comercial thing im not sure,
the quality isnt like your TV but its cool to record a whole season of a show and be able to burn it on disk, NOT TO BOOT LEG BUT TO KEEP FOR YOURSELF< i dont want this thread to turn into a debate about it,

What's that? You're bootlegging what? lol

Sounds awesome. Now I'll have to make it a point to go buy a splitter this weekend. How much are they? $10 or something?

When you were recording were there other things open or no? Just wondering if shutting programs down would give a better picture?
