More thoughts for lisa and everyone else affected.
The arsonist(s) should be shown no mercy whatsoever. |

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and all the others affected by the fires. My daughter was in college in Southern California one of the years when the fires were bad - so I know how scary and sad it is when people lose their homes!
I hope you and your family have gotten to safety with your most valuable possessions and I especially hope that you have a home to come back to.
Thanks, Paul for the link - I hadn't seen the news report.

Sheesh, Lisa, what a thread for me to see upon awakening. Sounds like the Mother of all Fires. Whoa, there's an idea :-) Falls in the "lemonade" category, I guess. I surely DO hope everything will be alright.

My first time online in a week and what a relief to be able to tell you that as far as I know, the fire is no longer a going concern - I'm in Umina too. It's been a really freaky time. Don't know exactly whether Lisa's house okay, but I think that there wasn't too much more damage in Umina since the southerly change though I haven't heard any news reports at all. Hope Lisa's okay and checks in soon. Thanks for all the nice thoughts from everyone. Much appreciated.
edit to add: The southerly brought much rain after a fair bit of craziness.

| Your silence doesn't bode well (I can't imagine you're sleeping). I do hope you and your home make it through this intact. Good luck! |

| I wouldn't necessarily say that. We got 7 hours sleep last night despite fires all around, but then we're possibly in the safest part of Umina, but it was still very scary earlier on. Keep posted. Hopefully she's just actually gotten some sleep. |

well.. it looks like they fireys got the upper hand during the night. Man, that was scary.
I want to thank everyone for their kind thoughts, this certainly is a place of global friends.
I managed to get some sleep. (it is really quite scary going to sleep wondering if they evacuate you would you hear them) Rob kept reassuring me, that we would hear them as they are very loud.
So far this morning I have been hearing helicopters flying over, not sure where they are going. Will keep you all posted.. Thanks so much for caring.
PS.. Paul are you still in Umina? We should catch up. |

Glad you made it thru the night ok.
If you are still in danger of being evacuated, while packing up the things you will take with you make sure to photograph everything else. Insurance will need it, and even if you don't have insurance, if anyone is found at fault you will need them for that.
It's never good to have to plan for the worst, but it will keep you busy. :P

How spooky, as I am reading about this situation, there are also fires burning away in Oklahoma city, with neighbourhoods burning. I feel bad for everyone involved.
I DO hope no more homes burn but.... |
