I have a real problem with my Ebay account, and the only way I can think of to reach someone there will be if someone here can help me.
I cannot sign into Ebay. It is under my "favorites" and when I went to sign in yesterday evening, it took me to a "verification" page that asked for a bunch of info...including credit card stuff. I didn't fill out a bit of it, knowing it's not from Ebay.
I kept trying from various avenues on Ebay to log in, but could not. I finally clicked on "forgot password". It went to my email with a link and I changed my password. After that, I could log in on Ebay fine.
Today, I am back to the "Verification page" when I attempt to log in (using my user name and the new password I chose just last night) and cannot even click on "forgot Password". There is no way to contact ANYONE at Ebay without logging in! There is a link for "Live Help" but it comes up as "Page not Found"
I really don't want to re-register with a new name etc., because it asks for address and such that I really don't want to give out at this point simply to get my original user account fixed!
I can look up my user name on Ebay, and I can see that no one so far is selling stuff using my name (I have 100% positive feedback), but I can't figure out any way to ask SOMEONE at ebay to fix my account so that I can log in, and so that it is secure and won't happen again.
I ran "Ad-Aware, and Spybot" as well as "Hijack This", then restarted my computer. Still having the same issue.
The page that I was taken to asking for all the information is here
It was not an email...it is just a page that I get EVERY time I attemp to sign in at Ebay.
Is there anyone here is willing to contact Ebay on my behalf and act as a go-between since I cannot contact them directly?
I can pm you with my user name and password (if I know ya okay from here) if Ebay needs that.
HELP!

Judy I'd be happy to help you, but I'd prefer if we can try first without your password. I could just email them, explain your problem, and ask them to email you directly.
Edited to remove my email address... Laurie beat me to it. Good luck, ladies, hope you get it sorted out quickly.

By the way, I just realized that the link I put in my post does not go to the page I was given. It goes to something that says unavailable.
Laurie,
Can I write up an email to pm to you, and you can send it on to someone at Ebay? It won't let me do anything there unless I'm logged in. I would think that somewhere under "contact us" is an email link that you can use to forward what I write to you? If that makes sense. |

| Have you tried going to somewhere like www.trendmicro.com and running a spyware/virus scan on your computer to see if you have a browser hijacker on your system? |

Okay...give me a minute to write something up and then I will pm you with it, as well as my contact information for Ebay to email to me. |

I just went there on my Mac. It was working, but i wouldn't recommend anyone with a PC visiting the site.

Okay, message is sent. This is so irritating! :(
We just set up a wireless network on our computers over Christmas. My hubby set it up and he is very knowledgable regarding security, etc (we have seldom had computer problems,) but I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. |

I'm not seeing the message yet...but you know how the PM system is here, sometimes they disappear. If you want, send it direct to laurielblack@gmail.com and I'll get it from there.

Call 1-800-555-1212 and ask for ebay (its a free 411 call) and if they have an 800 # they will give it to you. If I'm not mistaken that's what I did about a year ago when I could not sign in to ebay and didn't have a contact email or number.
Good Luck

I might try the phone number. Laurie, I did get an email from Ebay - just the standard "we got your question and will get to it soon" sort of response.
Thanks for the help everyone. |

A friend of mine had a similar problem before, later it turned out that a spyware sneaked into his machine and stole his eBay password, when he was finally able to login he discovered hundreds of expensive items listed for sale under his ebay account.
I suggest login to eBay from another computer, or give your credentials to someone you trust and have them login and check your account. You can also give me your ebay username (not your password) and I can check if there are any fraudulent items listed for sale under that name. |

| Actually never mind, I assumed your ebay name is the same as your DPC name and I guess I was right, fortunately there are no items for sale under that account. |

Just an update...
first of all, I had immediately looked up items for sale under my user name (don't need to log in to browse that way) and nothing was listed. I had heard about those stories.
I did send the email to Ebay through Laurie...but then I also went downstairs to where my laptop is and tried logging on through it and I logged on just fine! Got through to the live help chat and she gave me a different home page address to try logging in (It was ebay.ca instead of ebay.com)
Went back up to the problem computer, and tried that address and it worked perfectly. No problems at all. So it appears that my problem was not an ebay account issue, rather a bug that was redirecting my computer to a false Ebay log in page. Sure was a good fake.
When my hubby got home, I told him and he did some research and believes to have removed the offending program. Sad to do everything right and still get bitten once in awhile.
But thanks for the help and suggestions. I knew I could count on the folks here for assistance! :) |
