I saw this thread and had to laugh. My mom inherited a 48 DeSoto when I was in elementary school. Her aunt had died and we ended up with that tank of a car. It had a repaint job in Mexico that was supposed to be maroon and it was purple. We called it "The Purple Cow." Kids loved it on the days we had carpool cause it had modified running boards!! ROFL
