Have any of you had a hidden voter suggest that your time wasn't real on your 4-5:00 a.m Challenge photo?
I have, and it's frustrating, because I can't reply to the misguided person.
I have the photo properties to prove the exact time.
Why do people hide their name, like cowards, in my opinion, and then insinuate such things?!!! |

Don't get upset by comments, if you know they are wrong, that's what counts. As for the hidden aspect, that option is there so that folks who prefer not to have anonymity breached during voting cannot be contacted. While it's not a perfect system, it does do its job. Folks who use this option should certainly not be automatically be labeled "cowards."

If it is any solace to you, you an always reply after the challenge is over.
I have no idea as to the tone of the message you received, but if stated in a polite way, the author is indeed entitled to opine as to whether they believe the shot was taken within the prescribed time frame.
In this individuals opinion, the time frame was not right, just as in your opinion that person is a "coward". Perhaps they are hiding because they fear a certain level of backlash.
Just a thought.

It's fine for someone whao does not understand how we got to where we are with the system to question why it is this way.

| Sorry. I am relatively new here, and do not understand why this system is preferable...but it seems as if the Hidden Voters are more critical than others, and often misguided in their thinking. |

you've only received a total of 31 comments... give it some time. Also, try to have a "thick skin", sometimes we learn the most from comments that are not, well, complimentary.

OK.
I don't see anything in my shot that suggests it wouldn't be taken during the time frame, so just seems incomprehensible to me.
I marked it as helpful anyways. |

It is preferable in that one does not get nasty PM's from the recipient of the comment. I personally have encountered instances where the slightest negative comment was percieved as being akin to calling their children ugly.
It is sad but true that some individuals have a great deal of difficulty in dealing with any form of critical analysis of their photos.
I have never availed myself of this feature, but that is due to the fact that I have fairly thick skin, and try not to let the small things get to me.

I am sorry for the quick response. A lot around here choose to hide themselves during voting so they don't receive pm's back revealing that persons entry. I did not comment on your entry but you can always pm that person after the voting is over and ask questions then. Lots around here don't like the option of hidden during voting and it has been debated regularly. I apolgize for my quick remark and not realizing you are new.

It does work. Look at it from the other perspective. I and others have received abuse or at least unfriendly responses from commentin on an entry. When it gets too bad, people just go anonymous. You can see why.

Thanks for the apology. You don't know me any more than I know you, so that's quite alright!
I have to admit, I did snap back at one comment I received, that seemed unnecessarily hostile and outside the realm of photo criticism.
I see that some of you do use the anonymous option. Perhaps I should consider it. I just feel that there is a nice and not so nice way of criticizing someone, and some seem to play at getting a rise out of someone.
Just frustrating when somebody accuses you of breaking the rules. I read the rules, and abided by them...no matter how bad it sucked to get up at 4 a.m.!!!

FWIW, the commentor wasn't accusing you of rule-breaking... even if you HAD taken it outside those times, not meeting the challenge topic is not against the rules, and you can't be disqualified for it.
Of course, obviously off-topic pics will incur the wrath of the voters, which is more than enough, LOL.

| Also, in case you weren't aware, the hidden commenters are only hidden during the voting period. They are disclosed when the voting period ends, so it's really just a temporary anonymity. |

NO, mk, I didn't know that. Thank you for the info!
The person said they suspected the time on my photo wasn't truthful. I checked my properties, and it seems like my clock was 3 minutes faster than my properties said...dang clock...but still well within the time guidelines.
And I would say it was definitely "ON TARGET", if you know what I mean. LOL.

Joy, I'm sorry you got a comment you considered rude.
In any event, welcome to DPC!
