I'm sick to death of AOL and about ready to dump it. But before I do, I need to find another service to use. I've got hi-speed, so I want to use a web-based service. And it needs to be POP compatible.
What do you all think? Give me the inside scoop! :D

I use gmail and love it ever since I switched. if you want an invite, PM me with email and you can check it out if you want. I get it straight from the web and use Thunderbird.

Just curious, what features make gmail so good?

| Organization, account sizes which many have figured out ways to use as online storage (I do myself), spam and virus protection, RSS feeds, pop compatible... |

I run my own IMAP server for email, but use spamgourmet //www.xoxy.net for 90% of the general email I get.
Totally controllable email, infinite number of email addresses, with zero set up time. Track who's sold your email. Give out a new address to every web site that ever wants you to register. Don't ever care about getting spam again as you can shut it off straight away.

| domain-mail.com It uses my own domain name after the "@" and has spam & virus filters. It has never let me down....more than I can say about my local internet provider!! large mailboxes and I can access from my main mailbox or online from any computer. |

| Gmail (Google) electronically reads and interprets your content. Doesn't that bother any of you? |

Gmail.
As for the reading....I could care less. They do it for advertising purposes (no human is supposed to actually read it, it's done by computer). Also, Since I use Outlook Express to read my gmail I don't even have to see the advertising. |

Another vote for Gmail.
They have gradually been adding features, and I bet it will just keep getting better.
If a machine really does read my mail, I don't care.

| Gmail...and AOL just sucks. It's like a virus with all of the sneaky extra "programs" that AOL loads on your computer. |

i used to hate those online mail thingos and would only use isp or adresses off my url then there was gmail. I am totally impressed with it. And i dont care what kind of caxy computer scanner zaps trhough my email because i have nothing to hide.
BTW google talk (you need a gmail to use it) is a heck of a lot better than any voice chat i have used on line before. When my husband and i lived on different continents we used to run these things at least 12hrs a day, so i wager i am a pretty good judge when it comes to that at least. |

| Get some hosting for a domain name of your choice - cheap end is probably $4-5USD per month and you get a web-site also. If you want voice clients have a look at skype. |

Due to the overwhelming response for Gmail, that's where I'm at now to try it out. At least for the time being. I do like the idea of having my own domain name and web site and email and all that. But that comes after I start making some cash as a photog ;D
THANK YOU ALL!!!!
