Not sure how much national media attention this received, but a state police officer who lived across the river from me was shot and killed during a traffic stop last week. I didn't know him, but I stopped by the funeral service this morning to get some shots for the newspaper I submit to.
Literally a couple thousand officers showed up from around the country to pay their respects... it was really something to see:

Those are really nice shots Alan. We have had 2 killed in the last month or so in the Dallas/FtWorth area. It really effects a community when one is killed. My son in law is one in a tough area and I worry about him a lot.
With that being said I have to say my first thought was "Dang that's a lot of popo's all together." I had never heard police called that till my son in law told me a while back, now every time I see one that comes to mind. |

I was up that way (on 60 anyway) about 2 pm and saw lots of police cars headed north, and i figured that where they were coming from. I never would have thought that many were in attendence.
I think that was the same funeral home as when teh Aliquippa officer was killed a few years back.

I'm not sure if it was the same funeral home, but it was the same cemetery as James Naim. |

Good time to rob a bank.
That actually happened down the road from my house when I was a kid. The new bank was built right next to the new township hall that housed the police force. Someone robbed the bank while a police funeral was going on. No one showed up until 15 minutes after the robbers were gone. |

Why wouldn't there be that many in attendance? He was a good man. I knew him personally. Spent many nights drinking coffee together.
When a fellow officer is lost in the line of duty, people come to show respect. It's part of the brotherhood. We are all like family, no matter the distance.

Greetings,
As the holiday season approaches let us all pause to remember those officers, and the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our safety.

We lost an officer from the Police de Laval in the province of Quebec earlier this week. Dumbass shot and killed the female officer through the door of his apartment.
