DigitalPhotoContest and DigitalPhotoCritique (DPC) are pleased to have been places where photo enthusiasts could share their images and learn from each other in a community environment. The talent of DPC members is considerable, and being part of your enthusiasm for the past five years has been much appreciated.
We are writing to let you know that DPC is discontinuing operations.
Active members with more than one month remaining in their membership may receive a refund for the pro-rated term remaining on your membership. Click here //www.digitalphotocontest.com/RefundRequest.aspx for a refund request. You have until August 31 to request your refund. Similarly, if you won a prize from a past contest and have not yet received it, let us know by replying to this notification.
All images will be deleted from the site and will not be used by us at any time in any other forum.
DigitalPhotoContest and DigitalPhotoCritique thank you for sharing your images and wish you the best with your photography in the future.

Yep...got the same thing....I am bummed. Ingrid, there's a thread at DIC in the Member's Chat area that gives some more info...

I have no more information. I tried to get in last night about 11 pm and could not connect at all. I'll check the DIC thread.

i used to be a member there, but I did not renew it last year. I got a couple POTD's there, but not anywhere close for a monthly winner.

From what I am understanding, the site was bought by OnRequestImages a while back, and they just don't need or want it any more.

Depending on how many of DPContest/Critiquers are already members here. I used to actively submit there until I found out about this web site that sucked me in completely and pulled thick cobwebs over my other Favorites links...
I did use the image from that site once as an inspiration for the challenge here:(the link to the orig image no longer works:-()my photo

I was always under the impression that the main draw of that site was the prizes that were offered, in contrast with the main draw of this site (improving our photography and the entire rating system). On their site, you would only see if one of the panel chose your image as one of their top images, but if you weren't even close to in the running you would never find out anything.
Of course, I did enjoy looking at the pictures now and then and will miss it. No reason for its termination, eh?
