Bold crop and nice pinks. Your whites are tinged a bit cyan so a white balance correction might be needed, and a sharpening boost to make the petals stand out more. While shooting, I would try another light low on the left to minimize the petal shadows and add more depth to the flower. If this was taken outside and another light isn't an option, I'd play with some different angles to either eliminate the shadows or make them a key part of the composition.

well thought, not as nicely executed. It is hard to guess the colors.. although it doesnt really matter. Lighting could have been a bit more dramatic, considering tha fact that there are 'marbles' - great refractors - on the table:-)

For the life of me, I can't remember if these things have color, but I suspect they do. (Getting old is a pain.) This is an instance where I do think color might serve the shot better.

Hey Susan, it's the focus that kept this from scoring higher. For shots like this I will change the focus point on the camera and compose so that point is right on the eye. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions.
