screws-and-washers.jpgby browda1Comment by one2one: With that lens you can get 1:1 macros. This looks like a snapshot of 2 screws and washers. As already mentioned, the lighting is what is helping to kill this shot.
I'm looking into buying the same lens so try to impress me with another closer shot of these screws. Get in as close as you can, 12.5 inches or so. |

screws-and-washers.jpgby browda1Comment by aliqui: I try not to be too critical in side challenges, because most people are experimenting with new techniques. Was there something specific you were trying to accomplish here?
With macros lighting is something people usually tend to explore. What kind of lighting were you using? I agree that the lighting for this is harsh and doesn't seem to add to the scene. If you mention in your comments what you were trying to do others will help you create that. Ask us, we will answer!

screws-and-washers.jpgby browda1Comment by bspurgeon: Screws can make for interesting macros. In this example the lighting is not contributing to the image in that I see no added interest from shadows, additionally I think the WB is off. I say have another crack at the photograph, and maybe use just one washer and screw. |
