Great earrings, I agree, what can be better than having love and peace together as one? Wonderful self portrait. I like the skin tones and overall color to this. I like this from your description; I did alot and didn't write it down, and played with stuff and then deleted...so this is my best guess . Well the light is well positioned I think, though highlighting the irises of your eyes with (stronger) catchlights would give this an instant connection with the viewer. I think the light is angled in a good way. I don't know what you're using for lights, but overexpose the background by ensuring the backlight is cranked up as high as it'll go without destroying any element behind it (i.e. any part of you). The back isn't overexposed here, but it is interesting.
