Comment by Covert_Oddity:
Nice enough shot, the composition and location are nice but there are a couple of things which detract from it.

The car looks a bit out of focus or perhaps it's motion blur, can't really tell. Also, the overall shot is lacking definition and the colours look a little flat, perhaps a saturation increase and or sharpening would have helped. 5 from me.

A great composition on this image. Yopu have given great space on the right which has lead to a balanced photo. The panoramic crop works for me with this. Maybe some words in it to make it the true Ad for the car. A good image that works well for the challenge.

A set piece that works on several levels even though it has one minor issue - the OOF Victorinox knife doesn't quite work with the detailed and in focus objects. A very clever concept that is simple, yet not often seen. A different approach to reflection which seems to be a fairly common theme in this challenge is presented in a unique way. A good solid entry into the challenge with a few minor issues such as slightly over done exposure on the shoe and the knife as previously mentioned.

I love the composition and wouldn't change it except to maybe bring out the tree with the birds (perhaps by blurring slightly the background). Also wondering if a closer shot onto the birds/tree would have been more effective (but I would have had to play around with the shot to be sure)???

A little busy, and the red draws you away from the subject...

A neat view, but the tree and birds (vultures?) in it get lost in the background of the homes below.

Comment by Teafran:
A solid piece of photo journalism, this image is effective at presenting the subject with sensitivity. Rich detail and the intense visage compliment the vaguely detailed background. While this is a unqualified technical success, from an artistic standpoint, the color detracts from the subject's emotional impact and it might have been more effective as a black and white or grayscale - the color just seems too bright and positive by comparision to the title. Having said that, it is effective and should rate high in the competition. Well done.

This is a really good concept, but let down in it's execution by the over-exposure to the left . The composition is good, and careful thought has clearly gone into it with the placement of the various lead-in lines.

Comment by Teafran:
A little better lighting control reducing the highlights would have been a plus. Not an overly interesting image from an artistic sense, it does provide a lot of detail and color differences. A little more thought into the composition would have made for a better image. A good entry into the challenge, it falls just short of being truly effective. Perhaps a little change in viewing angle would have helped.

I wish to comment, but this evokes a sort of yes and no response in me. There's a good graphic idea, but maybe it needs sharper lines, or more attention to the quality of light coming through the mask...

All that and overexpose too? Nice try :)
