Five Blue Boats Sat Abandonedby BrokenPelvisComment by bassbone: sometimes selective desat seems a bit too gimmicky - but it works pretty well here - i just wonder if the impact would have been better if the fifth boat in the shadows was lit a bit better |

Five Blue Boats Sat Abandonedby BrokenPelvisComment by bobnospum: Not a fan of such an intense shade of blue with all the other color removed. I admit it is odd looking which was probably the point. I had to look twice to see the fifth boat which kind of defeats the "odd" theme as the "even" number of boats is really the main subject of the photo. |

Earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dustby BrokenPelvisComment by tootsweet: I'm assuming the pattern is that of the grave markers. The fence in the foreground is pulling my attention (maybe the fence is the pattern.) That being said, there is so much dark sky that it overwhelms this shot, the angle of shot obscures the markers and the dof brings everything forward. Again, those are criticisms if the markers are your subject. If the fence is the subject...the sky overwhelms, the markers demand too much attention...maybe they shouldn't be there at all. If the sky is your subject, I think perhaps this should be in a different challenge all together. ;) |
