the tight crop is a bit claustrophobic. It's strange to be so up close but have him looking down so that his eyes and mouth are lost in shadow.

a busy candid photo is like a symphony. there is a rhythm of shapes and people and actions. for the photo to be good, the music must be good. There must be one or more things that attract attention and hopefully move that attention around a bit. The couple is looking out of frame toward the photographer. But there's nothing else to suggest any interest for what they're looking at. The redhead is looking right at you. Another woman looks just to the right of you. Still another woman looks directly right, while another looks completely away from the camera. It's too chaotic without enough going on.

I would try cropping out the left half (which splits up the couple, sorry). Then you'd have the man reaching into his coat, which creates a bit of interest, and there in the background you have that girl holding the wrist of another girl. A simpler composition with more interesting stuff happening in it.
