Greetings from the Critique Club

I was quite surprised when I go this image to critique that you had only scored a 5.2 in the recent B&W challenge. I cannot help feeling that was a little harsh, but the competition was quite stiff. I certainly remember it from voting, so that's good as it clearly made an impression.

I like the way you have depicted what can be a fairly common subject by making it appear to be slightly abstract. I think the very heavy blacks in your post processing have done this. I have to say, I rather like this as it is, but can imagine there are some voters who would have preferred to see a bit more detail in the shadow area and so this probably contributes to the score.

Overall I think this was rather well done and am surprised it didn't do better.

Very nice scene. I'd like to see you emphasize the abstraction further, take it where it belongs, in the realm of who knows what, increasing the mystery by decreasing the clarity of the scene. Let us form it where we will in our minds, apply our own constructs to the form. Those spotlights and the ribs of the bridge beg for it.

Nice, I have a Daytime view here. I like the lights reflecting on the river and just touching the bridge supports enough to give them some definition yet keep them dark and mysterious. The underside of this bridge reminds me of a spine and ribs.

I like it but I want to go in there and rearrange it all to mess it up ;) Maybe a bit more tonal range would have been good, but a night shot it is.

Front perspective with distorted perception. I would have liked that adjusted so it was more square, specially with a straight on view. It is almost an interesting building it appears it might have some character hidden there but it does not give me enough brightness or colour. The depth of texture from the roof to the brick wall should be screaming at me and it does not.

Nice urban decay-y shot, great building. Small point for improvement would be crop the building more tightly to leave out unimportant background details.
