Lot's of hearts in here! Must be something in the water. Lovely, but it's hard to tell which direction the eye wants to move. Upwards and to the left? If so, a slight rotation upwards, and a slight shift to the right might improve the composition. Still, a 7 for the impact.

Nice, but the hot spot on the left is a distraction. Something should be there, but something subtle, not harsh.

Too OOF. Seems like the pencil is in the wrong place compositionally.

Great idea, but compositionally it would be more interesting if there were some interaction. A touch or a kiss?

Congratulations Sherryl! I found this image while researching for an entry into Rhythm III.
I am surprised that no one mentioned the incredible illusion of DOF that you created by using only color. To my eye, that is what makes your image so appealing. I also think your background texture is an enhancement, not a detraction as some below have commented. On my monitor at least, it is a subtle texture that acts as a complementary foil for the foreground. It establishes a rectilinear tableau as a reference for the wave. This is a 10 in my book!

Congratulations on the near-ribbon! I agree that the six low scores are bizarre. What score did they give the truly weak entries? Minus-fives?
