Castle.pngby simontaylorphotoComment by HighNooner: I think you needed to connect this huge mass to something; the ground perhaps, so the viewer may be able to feel the size by means of comparison to other objects and not only take you shot crop for it.
The windows in the front tower have a good potential for a photo.
Welcome and good luck.
And if it’s color it’s color so find something with other colors there to photograph.

Castle.pngby simontaylorphotoComment by kawhona: To me the shot is an ordinary snapshot. Maybe orienting the camera to do a portrait and get some of the ground in ??? If this was mid day it might have been much more dramatic a little later towards sunset. |

Castle.pngby simontaylorphotoComment by bassbone: Welcome to DPC - glad to have you on the site.
This is a pretty cool castle and holds a lot of potential. I agree with others - it seems a little bland. Most 'wow' like photos will have some drama - a foreboding sky, a steep and unusual perspective, or connection to a place in some way. The photo as taken has good color and seems reasonably sharp and the lighting is okay - but longer shadows (morning/evening) will help this a bunch.
Unlike what 'snake' said about having to enter challenges to get comments - entering 'side challenges' or uploading pictures and asking for feedback really can work well to improve your shots.
I would recommend making comments about other people's photos - what you like, what you don't - be constructive and others will return the favor... Message edited by author 2007-05-20 14:59:55. |
