Remarks: an amusing, left-brained intrigue... I imagine it due to the flat, linear composition. Bravo! |

2008.11.23 Ashleyby NusbaumComment: Ah, David!
I do not think it possible to make a better, more beautiful portrait. It appears, you have a muse. Posture, toning, frame, timing, the sense of her you captured here... is a very respectful magic. Now, throw the other shots you took of her away. There can be no other.
(And I vehemently disagree with Jedusi's post, this is not at all a "nice shot". It's magnum opus). Message edited by author 2009-12-24 22:31:54. |

&by pawdrixComment: This is surprising. Neither the flat ambient light, nor the urban clutter have been tweaked to lend some semblance of a selective "mood". Instead of being lulled into some splendid arrangement of trouvée and embellishments, we fall over the miracle in mid-air, between lights, expecting no more than Coke or pigeons. The result is persuasive as steel. |

Remarks: a fine Toscanesque with lovely natural tones and colour. Not a spectacular composition, but an emphatically appropriate one.
The rich, furrowed soil, so dominant here, afford the viewer an expansive vanishing point made of the subtlest water colour gauze, through which he is to be encouraged to disappear. Magic, yet tangibly fresh! (And, there is, to my sense, no shape more beautiful than the arch, especially here).

Remarks: an absolutely magical find, both locale and immediate subject, which should leave any viewer puzzled and intrigued. To my sense, however, the image appears severely over-sharpened; the subject's placement against the direction of its natural forward course, as well as the inclusion of redundant elements in the foreground, is unfortunate, given the apparent potential of such a rare view.
I would love to revisit a lovingly remade version of this fascinating adventure. |
