I half filled a large glass jug with water. I backlit it with a flash. I spun the water with a small battery operated hand whisk. I removed the whisk and took the picture straight away. |

It's a single shot. I was lucky that the traffic stopped for just the right 30 seconds. |

Let's Do Itby DistantColoursComment: Originally posted by roz: Darren .. i absolutely loved this in voting .. and am so glad you got in the top 5 ..
its brilliant ..
and i was interested to know the lens you used for this shot .. Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM .. can you be quite far away from the insects and zoom in .??.
with the macro lenses i have used .. canon and olympus .. i have to be very close to the insect .. i'd love the ability to be a lot further away .. i dont think the mirrorless omd em1 Mk2 lenses have that ability .. :(
and just realized the breakdown of votes and Sara's comment .. very disappointing seeing those low votes .. as this really is exceptional .. :) |
Thank you, I’m pleased you liked the picture.
I was about a metre away if I recall correctly. I think I had an extension tube on my lens. This is how I’m able to get a fairly large magnification without getting too close. |
