Relaxing In God's Creationby DrakeComment: The first thing that I (and probably 7 other people) am going to say is the image is very small...almost too small to give yourself a fighting chance here at DPC.
The second thing I'm going to say is that I like the composition of the image, but the lighting isn't very dramatic. In order to make a photo of trees interesting a person could try to shoot the trees in an interesting light or with an interesting sky.
I hope this helps,

the simple red barnby jpb323redComment: This photo drums up images of youth spent on a farm and a longing for the simple life.
I like how you framed the barn with the trees and branchs, although I feel the branch on top dips a bit too close to the barn and becomes almost a distraction.
The image seems a bit small and somewhat pixelated.
It looks like the barn is pretty dark compared to the rest of the image...and the barn is the subject, right? I can see by the patches of light on the ground, that there were breaks in the clouds. In this instance you may have been better off waiting for a hole in the cloud to shed a bit of light on the barn...this would emphasize the subject (barn).
I hope this helps,

Merlotby KonadorComment: I really love this image. Fantastic use of negative space, excellent deep color, perfect highlights on the glass and bottle. For me there is nothing to critique. |

untitledby grigrigirlComment: I really like this shot. The composition is amazing...the lines that come in from the lower left hand corner, the face in the lower right, the face and hair in the upper right, fantastic. The lighting and DOF are both exquisite, each adding texture and depth to the subject. For me, this shot is bordering on perfect.

Gray November Morningby NusbaumComment: I was just sitting here looking at that picture saying "that looks exactly like the river at Oxbow Park...there's the gravel road and..." I then looked and saw that it was taken in Rochester, MN. Small world.

Damagedby WesComment: Great idea, perfect for an infinite contest! I like the idea of using tubing for this challenge although I can see that you had to use pliers (or a vise?) to get it bent around properly. Black and white was a good choice for this image, if for no other reason than it's a rather colorless subject.
I guess my only real critique of this image would be harsh shadow behind the tubing. It almost mimics the shape, which isn't a BAD thing but doesn't really add to the image (imho).
I hope this helps,

Back to the drawing board: Divide by zero = infiniteby NatatorComment: Heh, nice concept! I like how you have all the extra stuff in there, calculator, crumpled paper, open pen...especially the coffee stain! Interesting how the paper on top pretty much square with the frame of the image, almost like it's the only sane thing in the shot and it's being subjected to the insanity written on it. Bah, now I'm just rambling. Nice concept and execution! |

The Möbius Loopby e301Comment: Excellent choice for a subject and great presentation. I too had thought of a mobius loop, but couldn't come up with a suitable way to represent it. The midtones in this shot are fantastic, subtle greys, wonderful highlights and great contrast with the black background. I like it! |

horizonby jbruno1397Comment: Wow, those are some beautiful clouds! I like the subject, very interesting and has great depth to it. At first I thought I could see some lens flare in the middle of the image, but upon further inspection, it appears to be your cameras reflection in the glass. Of course with the sun shining in, it's almost impossible to avoid reflections like this. You did very well with the resources you had at your disposal. Nice shot! |
