Wings of Desireby melismaticaComment by Fromac: I think the loose frame at the bottom is very effective but the amount of white in the clouds in the lower half of the frame kind of distracts from the subject.
Do you think there might be some way to soften/reduce the effect of the clouds? I suppose re-framing or some serious processing are the only options. |

Hmmm...I'm not sure if nostrils should be a focal point! LOL!
I can't remember. I fiddled with PS Elements. I used a couple of different filters. Charcoal was definitely an effect. That was the main thing. Most likely I adjusted the layers first. I should pay more attention to that stuff, huh? Here is the original. |

STRIKE!by melismaticaComment by posthumous: ok, I'll admit that I wasn't really struck by this picture, but I did give it a 6, which is the same score I gave the blue and red ribbons. Like you said, the color matching is a nice element, and the strong geometry of a bowling alley makes for a good composition. |

A Boy and His Shadowby melismaticaComment by posthumous: beautifully composed shot, and the film look is gorgeous. some people on this site (myself included) spend a lot of time trying to simulate that look. The road that is not a road creates a surreal sense of space. A giant child? A miniature world? perhaps he is looking down at some Lilliputians... seriously, the intense way he is staring at his shadow really makes this shot. I would say that's the "heart" of the shot. Often I see beautiful shots with no heart. I think another way to say it is the "so what?" factor. Every photo begs the question, "so what? what you take this picture for?" The answer does not lie in technical prowess (though of course that's a tool that can be used in its service). |

STRIKE!by melismaticaComment by karmat: I didn't vote in this challenge, and you are right, the frog probably would have scored much higher, but I kinda like the quirkiness of this shot. Nirvana and bowling, who wudda guessed? :) |

STRIKE!by melismaticaComment by jrtodd: I am none to sure about this photo, there is nothing for me to really like about it, but I am drawn like a moth to a light. Nothing seems in focus and the shutter speed leaves everything in a blur but the colors are wonderful. Her skirt and the panels above the pins are what makes this. OK I love it...10 |
