Turtleby DeniseBernadetteComment: A nice subject but the focus could have been much sharper on the tortoises face. His eye lacks the glitter that adds life to a portrait. Better exposure and sharper focus would have separated the animal from his rather drab surroundings and made this pop quite a bit more. |

Mountain Hikeby AarthekComment: While I suppose I could make the effort to rotate my laptop or download the photo and rotate it myself for evaluation this begs the question, "Why should I?"
I will evaluate it as is as best I can. This is sort of a drab landscape. The rolling hills in the background have potential but at this time of year there isn't much "wow" factor. Perhaps shooting at a time of day with more dramatic lighting would add visual interest, perhaps early in the morning with mist rising. Or during a dramatic sunset which would add some color and contrast to the shadows in the hills. I would also have tried very hard to eliminate the dead branches from the composition. The contrast in color and texture immediately draws my eye to that part of the frame. The scruffy conifer at the side of the frame isn't working hard enough as a framing element, if that is what it was chosen for. If this was the best the foreground had to offer, it might have been better to skip a foreground element and concentrate on the hills. |

Chance encounterby BradComment: Cute subject and nice capture. I know it couldn't be helped but the drab background hurts this for me. The framing is good. |

Caughtby CutterComment: This is really special looking. I very different take on the typical 'bird/water' shot. Super sharp but great composition as well. Nice job! |

Terra di Coloriby RebeccaComment: Good subject and the composition is decent. I'd like to see a bit more drama in terms of lighting. |

Long Train Runningby AgaricusComment: This is an nice view but the image quality isn't quite there for me. It looks a bit fuzzy and washed out to me. I'd like to see the colors on the train and the blue of the water really pop. |

world cup feverby whiteroomComment: The boy to the far right is priceless. This would be great if you could have cropped for this challenge.I don't think the rest of the photo works all that well. The middle boy looks very severe and uncomfortable and the other boy is cute but he was caught making a goofy, but not particularly cute, expression. |
