The only thing i can think of which might havebumped the score down a bit is it being a little too dark in the darks, if you get my drift. Other than that nice long exposure of a sunset :)

it seems hot pixels are more attractive than a plain black shot of a lenscap...by a full 0.2 points! interesting! ;)

Statue of liberty has no "weight" in the scene, it is like it is cut out and stuck there (the left hand side blend is all wrong considering the lighting and background shadows/highlight)... that might explain some of the low votes (i didnt vote) as the whole effect is ruined by the jarring nature of the statue which doesnt quite "live" there - not to say you werent the only offender in this challenge but these things do count... that you got some 10's and 9's it testament to the quality of the rest of the composition - in fact it may have done better without the statue (less is more...)

Just wondering here out loud: If this were say, the Chinese or North Korean flag (or lets say the Malaysian or Liberian flag which has a similar colour make-up and design to the US flag) taken in exactly the same style, quality and processing if it would reach the same score. I'm going to go out on a limb and say "probably not"... if that is the case and you agree then this is like the perfect display of how the subject and connection with the viewer actually boosts someone's preference for a photo rather than the aesthetics of the photography. Not degrading it in any way it is as good as flag shots get, just food for thought I suppose which reads across to all photography.

I've just reaised something about these types of shots - the focus of the shadow should be crisper on the feet and less so on the parts of the body further away from the leaf. So actually to improve on an already awesome shot try bending the cut-out so the outline matches the vertical profile of the frog, not just the horizontal ;)

Interested in how you got to get the people to stand out in the correct exposure bracket between shadow and highlight (noticeably the child and mother walking half in half out, and the lady's bag and leg). I assume selective dodging (/burning) - but how do you make it look so natural / the transition not really count?

Oh and this has to be jagar's work if i'm not mistaken ;)
