2mccsComment: I was going to give this a 9, not necessarily because I loved it, but because it kept drawing me back. I felt uncomfortable looking at it, my thought was the lack of space above the head of the shadow was my only complaint. Looking again this morning I slowly realized that nothing in the image it’s self caused me to be uncomfortable, but the memories it brought forth.
As a child I was given a very long leash, a leash long enough to be able to cross the line between right and wrong, and yes I sometimes crossed it. My father although fair, was not one to spare the rod if that line was crossed too deeply.
This image reminds me of my father standing in my bedroom door, about to apply some education on the consequences of poor choices, and me knowing exactly how that education is going to feel.
Do I love this image, no, but a photo able to bring forth those memories from a 52 year old man is well worth the 10, and this comment it receives.
By the way, before I wrote this, I had a almost 2 hour conversation with my dad, it’s been a long time since we had one, and it was good..
