Shutter was 1/20? Not 1/200? I would think you'd have needed the faster speed with a little one or there'd be more blur. And there is more DOF than I'd expect at f/2.8, so you must have been reasonably far away when you shot this. Could you post a link to the original? I'd like to have an idea of what you had to work with in terms of crop and such.
The lighting is pretty soft which is good. He's also at a slight angle from the camera and the toy rack, which is more interesting to me than him being squared up with both, so I like that choice in your composition.
He looks a little pale, which he could be, or it could be that all the bright toys are making him look paler.
If you are trying to show the busyness of your home the fact that he's quietly looking at a book contradicts that idea, plus IMO everything looks remarkably tidy for a toddler's play area ;-) The shot also "feels" very heavy to me on the left with the toy rack and the toddler, and not so much on the right side, but not negative space, either.
So, a few things I might do differently. One is get closer so the boy is in focus and the rest is not. And I think I'd try to position him and angle the camera so the only things in the frame are boy and toy rack and maybe a little floor, but no blank wall or fabric (drapes?). I also might try a B&W conversion so the bright toys don't draw my eye so much, but if half the point *is* the toys than ignore that idea, and maybe just deaturate the toys some and/or increase his color ... though I know messing with skin color can be a PITA.
Hope at least some of my ideas are useful.
