Weathering the Stormby EBJonesComment by apergament: Something for me doesn't seem to hit with this photo. I think its an extremely compelling subject, and a nice composition. Lightning is hard! Especially so directed. I think maybe the lack of contrast is at the wrong part of the curve. I can see are going with not boosting the contrast, though. Did you try B/W? |

Weathering the Stormby EBJonesComment by giantmike: Fantastic catch. I was going to say you should have tried to clear it up a bit (bring details of the boat out), but that would have removed the mood of the moment. |

Beachcombingby EBJonesComment by Bear_Music: Excellent image. Very nice B/W conversion. But I bet you'd have gained a tenth of a point overall if you had not used the heavy, inline border. It's particularly distracting on lower right, where it intersects your main subject. Congrats on top 10! |

Beachcombingby EBJonesComment by dswann: Very striking image. I like it a lot. One nit-pick (not deducting any points) is what appears to be sharpening halos on the shadow side of the main subject. But sometimes that sort of halo is naturally present in a high contrast shot. FYI, there is a good tutorial on DPC on removing sharpening halos that is legal in advance editing. 8 :) |
