Wow, what a great shot! He really has character. The only thing I would suggest is playing with the levels to make the darks darker, and maybe cloning over the highlights on his forehead with a large, soft brush at lower opacity.

What a beautiful photo. That horse looks so bonded to Caro (I'm assuming Car's the girl, right?) I love the look of the red bows for Christmas.

OK - first of all I'd play with levels and/or curves, to enrich the horse's tones. The red is nice and vivid and he seems a touch "dull" in comparison. Also, play with brightness and contrast. I think with those three things, you'll have a winner!!!

HI Donna, thought I'd offer my 2 cents here. I saw your Train pic and thought it was great - good eye. But some of the same problems are here too. First, there is obvious sensor dust in the photo - that needs to go. Second, the colors are drab, you need to invest in some editing software, even Elements can do wonders. Photoshop of course is best. Levels, Hue/Sat , maybe some sharpening all would help. In camera cropping is a problem, with the building on the L - that is a big distraction, the power lines on the right are too. You may want to consider a polarizing filter, the sky is very flat. Finally, here is the most important point, keep shooting, you've got a great eye, just need some work on the stuff above, which honestly is pretty easy and you'll really progress. NIce job, keep it up.
