Country Mouse Catcher

Composition: In most respects the composition is very good. I like the tight crop chosen and the shallow depth of field. The biggest issue with the composition is that it relies on the photo title to relate it to the challenge... I cannot tell from the photo alone that the cat is in the country or potentially eyeing up a mouse. The tongue on the cat is great though - it's thinking of food!

Technical Quality: I really like the softness of the colours - it has a very natural feel about it. The focus is also perfect. Overall, the soft appears just a fraction dark / underexposed although I wouldn't have added too much light as it would work against the natural feel of this shot.

Meeting the Challenge: I think this is where you suffered the most. I like the idea you have chosen but it relies too heavily on the title, rather than the image, to fit the challenge. Of course, you may not have had any nice scenary to work with.

Overall: Technically it's a good shot and I like the idea but a lack of background or other elements means that the cat is not really placed on a "Country Life" context. Something else that is typically country (a barn, some straw or even a mouse) would have really helped this shot.

Nice. I like it. Good subject that meets the challenge well. DOF is good - clouds are blurred, but not so much as to be indistinct. The focus seems about right. I think the only thing I can think of that might have improved it is using a slight fill flash - I just don't like the bottom of the wheel (the part we're looking at) being as dark as it is.

Very neat perspective. I like the subject. I wonder if it would have been more dramatic with a circular polarizer to make the sky more blue.

I think this is probably the sweetest photo I've seen so far. Nice choice of subject, and creative thinking.

Cute couple, bet they are doing the Hustle! I would have preferred them to be better lit, Perhaps a flash would have made them stand out better and brought out the colors

This is sweet (the title is wonderful!). A nice contribution to the challenge. A little dark and I wish your couple were standing a little closer to one another. The woman in the background (with the white shirt, not so much the one in the dress) detracts from them and the gentleman's facial expression is barely seen.

Looks like they are having fun! Good job taking this. Would have been interesting to see more of the "scenery" where they were dancing. 6

Awww! This just melts my heart. Nice candid shot. It's just a little too dark all over. But there isn't much you can do about it, I guess, since the lighting there wasn't so good probably.
