It's my favorite flower. They had some other color variations where I used to live in Texas. Not Dallas though...near Austin.

Domesticated Duck Retrieval

Comment by theSaj:
It feels over sharpened. The duckies have ridges on their head. It also feels like it was saved at too low of a quality. THe yellow and eyes of the duckies are not very clear. Hard to focus on.

The capture of the dog is decent, though I tend not to be very fond of dogs. Your's at least seems to have a good heart in his eyes.

I also feel the duckies are too low in the picture to feel like a main interest. So it feels like the were just tossed in for the challenge. And true, the duckies do not need to be the main subject. But they must feel as if they add something to the shot. Here, I think I'd like the shot better without duckies. And I like duckies...I have probably about 30 and another 2 dozen on the way.

I think those are the factors that hurt this entry.

The lighting seems a little harsh. The bottom right has a hot spot which grabs my eye.

Correct, the dog is the subject so your eyes should be traveling to it. The challenge is to "Include" a rubber ducky in the photo, not make the rubber ducky the "subject" of the photo.

Also, it is a Golden Retriever which are game (bird) retrieval animals, so the two IMO are perfectly related and a great match. Slightly average to marginally above average shot IMO, but defintely challenge material. I had it projected as about a 5 going into the competition and still do in relation to the competition.

Good catch! That could be a leg-breaker too, so they'd better watch it next time.

Comment by Falc:
To make sports images work you have to isolate the action. Place yourself where you can get a clear background, anticipating where the action will come. This image has a car/auto encroaching on the left, but worse still is halfway through the kid. On the right, the other kid is halfway across the coach/ref.
Keep it clean, isolate the action and you will do much better.

An ok shot... but not one that really screams "mornings" to me, I'm afraid.
