ABSOLUTELY! I checked out Judi's work and actually appreciated the compliment more than getting a ribbon... I guess that also makes somebody a monkey's uncle ;) |

The Collectorby TullyComment by Tully: Thanks to all the (higher than 3) votes and the comments. I started making creatures after a trip to the zoo, and soon found that I was amassing too many creatures to decide which one to put into this challenge. That was when I came up with an idea of how to put more than one creature into the challenge. After a second trip to the zoo, I soon found things getting out of control and had to cut out some of the creatures simply from lack of space.
The hand holding the jar is my 3 year old's as I liked the idea of a young collector (though an old hand would have also worked well). I had him set his hand on the jar rather than hold it as it allowed a better view 'into' the jar without obstructing it with the hand. My biggest problem was that the jar was about 15cm (6 inches) in diameter and the shelves were only 2cm (less than an inch) deep, so I had to hope that I could slip this by unnoticed.
Of course I would have loved to ribbon on my 9th entry on DPC, but even more frustrating was the drop below seven on the last few votes - if only ONE of the people voting 1 on my image had decided to waste their time doing something constructive instead of voting down peoples scores, I would have broken the 7 mark overall.... and they didn't even take the time to leave a comment.... grrrrr - so it goes, I suppose. |
