I like the colors, but the lighting seems harsh.

Looks very pieced together.. Even the guy doesn't look like he's standing there.

Then you ran into the bedroom...you were struck down, it was your doom.

Really like the lighting on the shoes and the floor.. but the hands on the wall don't make much sense. Sliding down the wall? Or holding hands up like surrendering? Still a great shot.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

First off, good job meeting the challenge. No disputes there. It's a cute picture, however, that said, the photos isn't very intriguing. It doesn't do a great job at keeping the viewer's attention. It's a good photo, but not particularly great.

Angle: I like the POV you chose for this shot. Getting down on the ground can be a great way to get a unique capture.

Composition: I like the crop you chose. Gives the user a defined focal point. Behind the boot on the left, there's something flesh-toned in the background. Not sure what it is.. but it's a bit distracting.

Subject: The boots themselves are pretty flat and uninteresting. I wonder if work boots would have been better.. Probably not on DPC. DPC voters tend to like bright colors. Perhaps adding a kid in the boots, covered in mud? Or stomping in a muddy puddle?

Lighting: Seems a bit hazy and dark. It was probably a cloudy day.. but would have bumped the exposure or levels in post processing. Bumping the saturation would help too.

Good idea, just needs a few tweaks to make it great.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Well I agree with the voters and commenters. This is a breathtaking shot. You did a great job bringing back detail with the tone mapping. I love that the photo keeps my attention. My eyes wander across the bottom, along the bridge, and through the sky line, exploring the scene.

I agree with MemberTygerr that breaking the skyline with the hill in the background would have made it stronger. Currently, the sky almost looks like a gradient border. If you're skimming past the photo, I don't think you'd realize just how amazing that sky is. If you were to re-shoot, I wonder if you could get lower, and maybe even bring the radio tower on the right, above the sky line? It's a great scene. I'd be shooting it all the time if I were there. =)

Obviously you met the challenge well. I can't really think of anything else to improve this photo. Except perhaps taking it earlier in the evening to capture even more of the detail. But then again, the night shot really gives it a great mood. Nicely done.
