The Waitressby David EyComment by Haneck: Well, here's my two cents. :)
It is NOT too dark. This amount of light would make a perfect low-key shot (which the voters unfortunately hate.) But a good low-key shot will make good use of what little light there is, and in my humble opinion the lighting does not really work here. The darkness, the colors, and the whole setting here have great potential as a very powerful and atmospheric shot, but the composition, for example is a bit cluttered. Also it would be nice if there was just slightly more light near the subject's face. However I can totally understand if you were in a situation were setting everything up just perfectly was not possible, and I really like what I think you were trying to capture here. The concept of a waitress in medival times perhaps, in a small village tavern as suggested by the background is intriguing. :) |

The Waitressby David EyComment by Melethia: This has an old world, tired charm to it. I love the "lit" city in the distance. And for what it's worth - it's gorgeous on my laptop monitor, but barely visible on the monitor I use at work. |

The Waitressby David EyComment by FocusPoint: This is an excellent shot. I only wish it would be a tad bit lighter so I could see the woman without moving from my chair :/ |
