Hello from the Critique Club,
The first thing that strikes me about the photo is your choice of shoes for the shot. They’re interesting looking, and have lots of detail to them, as well as being a bit different from the rest of the subjects in the challenge. In terms of the actual photo itself, it feels very flat to me, which is probably because of the aperture you used (16). Because everything is within almost the exact same amount of focus, the distance is compressed and the moccasins fail to pop from the blanket. The way the shadows are falling, I’m assuming that your flash was on camera too, which increases this flatness of lighting because the shadows on the subject are decreased from the viewer’s point of view. Foregoing the flash and using something to support your camera may have worked to your advantage (though I don’t know what your ambient lighting was). Compositionally, I wonder if centering things would have made things feel more natural, in order to include the blanket as a subject. If you wanted to emphasize the moccasins more instead, I’d consider shooting from a lower angle and placing one shoe angled in regard to the camera, and one on top of that facing with the beads toward the camera. The lower angle makes the blanket less distinguishable, and the lower angle will accentuate the features of the shoes. Shooting this next to a window with sunlight streaming through could work pretty well, I think.

good mocs and a great effort; however the photo doesn't do much to show them off; maybe if the blanket had been drapped over something so the mocs were on sitting only on the white part. As it is here they blend in too much with the phoenix/firebird. The beadwork is prominent which is good but no other detail can be seen.

The composition is a little off as this feels somewhat imbalanced. This could use a bit more light on it to help punch up the colors which I think are important in this scene.

Awww... I had 3 baby robins for a couple of days that my son and the neighbor kids found on the sidewalk. The kids wouldn't leave them alone cause they kept trying to "take care" of them so I brought them home and fed them with an eyedropper until I could get them into the hands of someone who knew what they were doing. I did get a few shots but they weren't very good so they're not up on the sight. Great capture here. The glint of light in the baby birds eye really makes this shot great rather than just good.

Boy that's a half hearted grin if I ever saw one.... Or maybe its one of those "Hey sonny leave that alone"......"huh? Me? What!"

Either way it was a good shot.

the only thing i get from this shot is that you moved the camera. nothing interesting about this shot whatsoever.

if you are trying to go for drama, then i would suggest a longer exposer with a black piece of board, then have the sign going down adn down and down, now that would make it appear as though something was falling. Apart from that , nothing really I can think of would help or hinder this shot
