Silent Whistle Howlin'by RefreshComment by Teafran: This is a great concept and from a technical perspective, a success. The image is right on the edge of being over sharpened which is a plus. This may have suffered from flash reflection as the silica in the rail bedding material creates a speckled effect similar to hot pixels even though that isn't the problem - its very similar to what you get with snow in that the crystals reflect light at odd angles. From an artistic point of view, it falls just short of the mark of being excellant. A sound entry into the challenge and it should place well. |

Silent Whistle Howlin'by RefreshComment by smudgeSMJ: I think that a slightly lower angle would have done better with this to move our eyes more toward the end of the tunnel rather than feel like we're staring strait down at the tracks. I also think that using different composition, for example have the tracks originate in the bottom left corner instead of the whole bottom of the frame, would help move our eye along the photo better. |

CheckMateby RefreshComment by Nuzzer: The lighting seems a bit flat and the image has a grainy feel to it. I'm also not sure that the black king is in checkmate - E8 has moves to F7 & D7. 5 |

CheckMateby RefreshComment by Caltrop: just currious how this was check mate. which square was the king supposed to be on and why is the white king off the board? Next time you set up a check mate you might want it to look like a real game and a real check mate. |

CheckMateby RefreshComment by GrayGhost: Checkmate how? And white's king is already off the board. Less clutter and better lighting would help, along with some angle. |
