The eye thing is probably what ties it in with the title. The man has protective glasses on the top of his head but decided to take a risk and go on without them. It was obviously a poor idea since he couldn't look at the sparks for long. Thank you for looking.

You have all the ingredients for a strong photograph but I think the light kind of waffles in the middle. Either you could have made a strong silhouette with very little detail showing upfront with only the highlighted cigarette or used another light source to highlight the face more strongly while retaining the backlight that highlights the smoke nicely.

The flare is washing out bits of the subject. I think a bit more trial and error would have gotten the light perfectly right.
