A very good effort. Some of my favorite elements in this image are the character of that noble pine tree, the grey shadows and tones of the river ice and the searing shafts of sun blazing in from the left. The width of the river and the chunk of pasture are quite broad. But that may be the optimun vantage point in your circumstance. There appear to be some figures lurking in the midground (?) and a hint of a structure in the background. A touch more of the human presence would not be offensive to my tastes. Although this may not have been practical or of your intent I would like to see a little more texture in the midground trees. Those are two minor quibbling points in an otherwise noteworthy image. To me this is a quiet interesting picture that will speak well to the patient viewer. I am glad that you have trodden down the B&W route instead of the nuclear hue calander attempt. Continue with your wonderful vision quest.

Cool picture! Interesting letters on the egg. Not sure of the significance of that, but then again I don't golf.

CRITIQUE CLUB REVIEW

A striking image. Great use of negative space. If it had been the only one doing this idea it would have been stronger. A testament to Elton John's popularity that so many people did this song!

Good bonus to add the wind blowing the flame. I might have liked to see: sharper focus, maybe some direct tie-in to either Marilyn Monroe or Elton. However, the 'lost in the darkness' quality is effective.

Overall good work, but needs more context than the title.

CRITIQUE CLUB REVIEW

A conceptually excellent photo. Funny and witty. Great delineation of texture and the black white works very well. Good choice of pistachios as the 'real' nuts, with the way they pop open.

I feel the composition is just a bit busy. You have used DOF well to isolate the metal nut from the others but i feel it might need a little something more to get it more distinct. It might have helped for your light to catch high light on the metal nut instead of leaving it dark.

Or maybe use a spotlighting effect (cone of paper over a desklamp works well) to single out the metal nut, while leaving the pistachios darker.

Overall a fine effort, and one you should be proud of :).

I really love the concept here and it is a very nicely executed photo but the date mark is really distracting and takes away from the form of the egg in my humble opinion.

Fun idea, would have had more strength with a little more: shadow of a golfer, club in movement, golfer shoes etc. good image but a bit lazy.

Nicely done. Egg-selent focus and clarity. (ok, sorry, that was bad) The texture and detail on the egg just jumps out. The background is great. Nothing distracting there. I like the DOF. Lighting is great. You did a great job with this photo. Good luck in the challenge.
