Pullby drz01Comment: apt title. the composition has at its center of centers, the true subject, the pull, the effort that is embodied by the woman on the rope. it seems as if its her muscle holding the entire picture together. 8 |

Medieval Fabricsby rscorpComment: ah, muted colors and shadows, the lines of the fabric meshing seamlessly (so to speak) with the architectural lines of wooden beams. beautiful! what briantammy said! |

untitledby agenkinComment: I love that you have an "abstract / textures" section. You could probably also call it the "flat" section, if this example is typical. By "focusing" on abstract shapes and texture, the illusion of 3-D is lost and the viewer is forced to admit what s/he is *always* looking at when s/he is viewing a photo: a flat image. At this point, it might even occur to the viewer that s/he is not looking at a *subject*. This is of course what the abstract movement was all about, emphasizing composition and color, but I know that you know all this. I just want you to know that is the level on which I enjoy this. It is a simpler composition than Kandinsky would like, probably, but I find it a pleasing elegance. The point of interest for me becomes the drain(?), since you have given a linear blur to a swirling shape, you create a center of visual fascination. It's hypnotic, a similar effect to twirling it around, oddly enough. As to colors, I enjoy the bright orange (or red) and how it relates to the subdued orange (or brown) background (which has a great rough texture, btw) |

Scottish Hammer Throwby LongfistComment: 7, which is very high for a sports photo from me. I can feel the power and the danger, intensified by the hint of fence in the foreground. 7 |

Chosen Perspectiveby Sunshine86Comment: great composition that really highlights the challenge, but a shot like this still depends on the model. yours is mostly blank with just a hint of expressiveness, which is precisely what is needed here... the Mona Lisa touch. if only she weren't so darn prettified! 8 |

An Honorable Perspectiveby bvoiComment: somehow you took a standard shot and made it your own. I think it's the way the stones slope up again in the background, and also the high contrast sepia effect. haunting. 8 |
