I also love the water droplets, and feel it would have looked so much better if you used a tighter crop, to take out some of the unnecessary grayish background.

Maybe a square crop to remove the left side or a portrait format, to remove both parts of the left and also right side.

Just look at the focused area, and remove whats not necessary.

Play around with crops and this is what I do.

I often take three or four different crops of the same image many times until I get the one I like.

If this was taken inside maybe adding a greenery or colorful backdrop, with leaves, would also have helped to make this more pleasing to the eye.

I hope this helps, as I really like those water droplets very much.

This does suit the challenge, but not in a strong way, but it is there.

Nice focus on the eyes, but I feel the background could be more interesting. A little hard when taking photos of these little critters, as one often has to take the image where one finds them.

I have taken photos of these in there own environment, but also in an environment that I choose. I have carefully captured the praying mantis, with no harm done and placed it on a leaf, or flower of my choosing. One must take care with going this and not harm the insect in any way. One must also place the insect back where one found it without any harm to it.....

I like the softness of the DOF as well.

I like the composition here and the limited colour scheme. I like they way you leave something for the viewer imagination. That makes a difference between a good photo or a postcard. I can see a bit of grain in the upper part of the image, but only under a certain angle so it may be my LCD. Very, very fresh idea.

I see the triangle, but the photo itself is not "great". I wish the crop was a bit different, and it's a bit OOF. DOP looks really cool, and the soft light is nice.
