Blue Chairby sherComment: This picture is a bit more interesting than some of the others. You have a neat group of colors and patterns. It does look like it's outside rather than inside though... but still a bit better than some in this challenge. |

"L" Ghostby srdanzComment: I can see what you were trying to do (I think) but the distortion in the lines throws it off for me a bit. |

Fireby NeilComment: Nice colors, but this kind of art doesn't really do much more me. I guess I'm not really an abstract kind of guy. :D
Good use of colors though.

Sheer Alpsby NeilComment: I agree about the shadows. You have more detail in there that could be brought out (although maybe not without breaking the rules for a challenge on here) and really add some pop to this. As Bear said, it's a very strong image and I think has good impact to the viewer. I would probably increase the contrast a bit as well as bring out the shadows.
Nice image though.

Looking Back at Fall (Impressionistic/Painterly)by NeilComment: The leaning rails in the front was the first thing that caught my eye. Although it looks more like perspective distortion rather than camera lean.
I get the feeling that the top of the trees is cropped off just a bit too much. I would have liked to see a little more there.
Over all, I love the shot. I like the boardwalk and how it leads you right down the middle of the shot and into the colors of the tree. A few nits, but very well executed.

My Dad's Toyby BakerBugComment: The red doesn't bother me... I can't get past the out of focus bush on the left, so I never concentrate on the red. The part of the train that is in focus is good. I agree with the comments about DOF in this one as well.
I think in all 3 of your pictures you this [ ] close, but they have several weak elements that throws off the rest.

The Internetby BakerBugComment: I think the object is too obscure as to what it is and what it does. I know what it is, but someone that doesn't work around them probably wouldn't have a clue. And not understanding what the object is makes it hard to appreciate the picture.
It's already been mentioned about DOF, but something addition to what has been said is front focus. While it's not unusal to have the object fade from in focus to out of focus, having the front out of focus is kind of like hitting a visual brick wall. It just stops the eyes for a moment since the first thing they see is that out of focus area. And I think that in shallow area like you have here, you should have more area in focus and less out of focus.
The colors are well done, exposure is well done. And yes, I would have thought the specs were dirt or something. :D
