I gave this a 9. Maybe it is a little dark, but that doesn't bother me. I've seen enough snow to know that it's really really white. I don't need that from your photo. What I do need is a sense of story/mystery. This has got it. I love the background/ middle ground/ foreground, how each has something to say.

Part of the fun of the challenge is comparing the photos to the work of the photographers they're paying tribute to. I can't figure out who that would be in this case. It seems to me you have tried to convey color and broad form in an almost abstract image. To my eye, it is not abstract enough to pull that off and therefore my eye is looking for something in sharp focus and I can't find anything.
