Nature's Eleganceby
redeemerComment by roz: just gorgeous jesse .. i love the delicacy of the web and the beautiful bokeh .. its a stunning shot .. :)
ps ... re shooting macro ..
the external flash helps a heap ..
with your camera you should be able to get the same result i do ..
i use a kenko extension tube lately, but i could get the same results without it .. it really just helps me focus better ..
speed is another requirement for shooting insects in nature .. no hesitation when you've got the insect in focus ..
focus .. i use manual, with the extension tube you cant go auto anyway .. but either turn your focus ring or move backwards and forwards to achieve the focus .. and when you've got the focus dead right hit that shutter really quick and try not to move the camera .. a movement of less than 1/8" can put you out so take a lot of shots ..
heaps of mine go in the recycle bin because the focus is on the leg and not the eye for instance ..
a dont use a tripod or monopod so i have to brace myself on something .. altho if i'm standing up then there's nothing to brace against in which case i try and hold my elbows tight against my sides .. sometimes tho if your leaning forwards you cant even do that .. if i'm squatting down then i can brace against my legs .. etc etc ..
this is a link to one of my insects where i talk about shooting macro altho i've probably covered a lot of it here ..
robberfly in free study
a lot of the 'talk' is because i entered this robberfly after winning the nightmares challenge and the shot and processing is nearly the same, only the wing of the wasp has moved .. i got a heap of low votes because of the similarities .. etc etc ..
and i know this is probably not the place to go on and on but who cares .. lol .. ?!!
thankyou for your compliments ..
hope you have a great day and take care .. :)
