The-Secrets-We-Keep.sby mariucaComment: This is such an interesting shot at so many levels! Don't know if this was candid or staged. Considering that the girls are holding pamphlets and the hair are not identical for both girls it seems like a candid - which makes this an amazing find! Eye moves from the two girls to the painting and keeps you engaged in the shot. Composition and crop wise I really like this as is.
That said, technically the picture has few problems - color temperature is off, there is a slight blur - pink and lined shirts are distracting - I would have converted this to B&W and did some dodge and burn to bring the focus to the faces of the girls and the painting.
Hope this helps! |

Embracing the Lightby PaulComment: This is an incredible photograph, amazing light and a beautiful model. I have had this as a favorite for a while, finally decided to stop by and comment.
I took this course (not photography) and the instructor turned out to be a photographer, I saw this picture on his website and could not place where I had seen her before. Going through my favorites I found this again! Message edited by author 2012-09-07 13:19:52. |

The Lookby MinsoPhotoComment: Beautifully lit, catch light in her eye is just right, color tones and temperature work well, no blown highlights with a while background is a big plus - well sharpened. I gave this a 6 during voting.
A different crop (closer, portrait orientation, cropped till her tattoo) might have worked better imo. |

Leaving tracksby snafflesComment: Its nice to see the siggy being used by the right person :)
As for the critique - I gave this a 6 and here is why - It fits the challenge, train tracks are used and nicely composed. Leading lines with beautiful trees and the processing is nice too.
Now for the negatives - its missing the perfect symmetry that could really make a shot like this work. Vanishing point would have lined up with your name under the picture if it was symmetrical. Foreground trees on the right are distracting and again breaks the symmetry that you were trying to go for. As for the levitation, it does not add much to the photograph, a simpler jump and looking straight down into the camera might have given some more impact in my opinion.
ETA: Hope you will not find this too harsh! Message edited by author 2012-09-06 21:46:45. |

Babelby tomeComment: This is an incredible picture - I love crowds like these. I gave this a 6 during voting, with a little different editing/crop this could have been an 8 or 9 from me.
Suggestions in my opinion what would have worked well - crop the bottom till the shoulder of the out of focus lady in foreground, and from right till the man on the phone (left shoulder). Paint with light to direct your eye to either one of the man in the hats. |
