Greetings from the Critique Club.

I would agree with you that I also really like the gradient from the dark blue to the warm sun. This was a difficult challenge because so many images were very similar. I really like that you took the challenge into the city where so many of us live and created such an inviting piece.

I really feel like the clouds are the most important aspect of this piece and that it is possible that many voters took a quick glance and didn’t see the depth and length you were able to capture. Keep up the great work and I look forward to many more photographs from you.

Greetings from the Critique Club.

This is such a great photograph, I personally thought is would defiantly be in the top 10 but 11 is still really good especially in a tough challenge like this one. You did an amazing job of capturing the light at just the right time to create such warm coloring in the sky.

I am really glad you included the foreground in this piece. I took a class once that compared landscape shots that included a foreground to those that do not and the difference is huge. The placement of the subject in the center is nice and really good that it is not dead center.

Your portfolio is amazing and I look forward to many more great shots from you.

Greetings from the Critique Club. This is a great shot, and it must be amazing to have to live on the shore. It seems like it is always the case that when there is a prefect challenge for you something goes haywire. Even with stormy weather this is a great shot.

The placement of the sky line and water is great, far too many times people don’t pay attention to the rule of thirds. The looming clouds are what grabbed my attention when I was voting. The coloring and detail are excellent. This was a difficult challenge and I don’t think many people spent to time on each image to see the great details like you have.

Keep up the great work!

Greeting from the Critique Club!

Nice entry into to the Sunset or Sunrise II challenge. It is definitely difficult in a challenge like this to stand out because so many images are kind of similar. It is really nice that you used the rules of thirds and didn’t place the sun in the center. The coloring of the image is very warm and inviting, it is also pleasing to the eye because the image flows calmly throughout.

The voters here are very interesting in the way the vote, it is hard to know what they are looking for. Looking at your profile you have amazing photos, and I think this was a strong piece as well. The only thing I might try just to compare to your current image is to shoot lower and include a little more of the foreground to break the piece up. This can be difficult and can even take away from the flow that you might be creating, but might just give you another interesting piece.

Great work, I look forward to many more photographs!

Hi posthumous, nice work on the landscape. I remember this image in the challenge because it is so massive; the depth of everything is huge. I like the subtle elements of light that pop up here and there throughout the piece. I think you should great extra points for using a manual lens. I don’t think many people could use a manual and get this type of depth and clarity. Your piece reminds me of something we would see in Black & White magazine, where the blacks are so deep and rich. Great work, I look forward to your future entries.

Hi Trotterjay, nice entry into the Closed category, the concept is one I don’t think most people would have thought of putting a piece together like this. The placement of the hands really grabs your attention. The lighting on the fingers is beautiful. I like that the cross is a big piece of the image. As a typical voter they may have not stopped and thought about how the cross was photographed in this image. I would imagine it was difficult. It does give the piece a sense of balance. I really like the work you have done. Looking through your portfolio you have a very strong sense of message in your art. Keep up the great work.
