This was one of my few 9's. The crop is fine, the exposure is just right, the tilted horizon adds to the crazed atmosphere perfectly, etc. ;) funny how about half and half of the commenters seemed to either like or dislike the crop. I love the abandonment, the power, and the grace you captured, the rich contrasts, and the burnished gold color of the horse's coat.... this is a gorgeous, gorgeous photo, and I truely wish it had gotten a better score. :)

Voted earlier coming back to comment. I keep seeing this in the line-up of scored uncommented images and my eye keeps coming back to it. There is just *something* eye-catching and interesting that I can't quite put my finger on. The colors of the horse contrast dynamically and darkly against the backdrop which really draws our my eye to the horse. I guess what I really find interesting that my eye is captured every time is that action that is caught here. The composition is shot as a straight on horizon shot yet the horse is running at the diagonal...the hooves run right into the bottom right corner. I hear the thundering hooves, the muscles ripple & move as they propel this noble spirit....oh...I believe that must be it! The appeal is the action and motion and grace of this horse that is captured here in the composition.

It looks like you're put a lot of effort into the PP and it works. I'm not convinced by the crop at the top, but it does add to the feeling of movement.

The crop really bothers me here, whilst on the one hand I can see the dynamic you was going for, on the other hand a bit of my mind is screaming "but it just doesnt work!!"..
Sweet processing and nice action though.. this shot REALLY stands out amongst all the thumbnails.

I am loving the angle, framing/crop, contrast and the colours. I have been looking at the ribs on that horse and think that says a lot about the horse and adds much to the image. It also looks like you clicked just when the horse wanted you to.

I love horse photographs, especially when they are about the horse rather than simply of the horse. One of the ways to achieve that is to crop it (or compose it) so that we don't see the whole of the horse. It somehow has the effect of getting the viewer beneath the surface; into the muscles and tendons and even the motivation of the horse. Maybe it's just because such a crop is unexpected that it liberates our imagination a bit more. Just like this. 8.

I must confess, I didn't really like this at first pass, but it is growing on me. The head being cut off was a little bothersome to me visually. However, I am beginning to see the power in the photo. I've bumped it twice and will do so again for the pure energy caught up in it.

I'm not typically a fan of horses or photos of them, but I really like this one. You created such a dynamic image with your composition and processing. I feel like I have insight into the mind of this particular animal at this particular moment in time.
