Comment by JuliBoc:
The composition could be better. I think the shot seems off balance with too much negative space on the left. Also there doesn't seem to be any reason for the back end of the cat to be cropped off. I like the shallow DOF, though. The cat is nice and sharp.

I like the idea, but to me the picture seems to be missing something. If I were to re-do it, I would put the cat closer to the center, and maybe tried a lower angle. I did like, however, that you caught the cat with its paw in the air. if it had just been standing there I would think the picture would be a little boring.

I would love to see more of the cat. With shots like this, where you have a fairly even background, it usually works really well to just fill the frame with your subject. It gives us a more intimate experience with the subject, that we would not usually feel by for example just seeing this cat outside.

On a level of composition, it also gives the eye more room to explore, as it is not drawn out of the image. Since you have so much green space, my eye is immediately drawn to the point of contrast (the cat) which only takes up a small portion of the frame, and leads they eye straight out to the right.

Hope this is helpful.

It looks really contrived, but meets the challenge well.
