Damn my attitude. I can remember my confirmation and approximately how holy I was at the time... Detracts from this, I'm afraid.

Good subject - the movement of the subjects gives the viewer the sense of their anticipation. Nice job.

Bright light from the windows has caused you to overexpose the image. This would be a stronger photo if you could have focused closer on one or two of the girls with maybe just one window or the altar as a background. As it is now the background is busy and distracting.

Nice. A tighter crop, eliminating the chairs and podium might have had more impact for me.

I'm not much for receiving or giving comments, but since Candids are
near and dear to my heart, I have decided to give comment on every entry
in this challenge.

Ok, well, children are far too easy to get candids of. They do all kinds of obscure and out of the ordinary things in and out of public on any given day. Here we have a child, but not one doing anything extra ordinary, but just walking down the street. I would have totally cropped this to the top of his head leaving only the street in the shot with him top left of the frame. I would have converted it to b/w and given a lot of attention to Highlight, Shadow, and Midtones to really bring out the texture of the road and his clothing and hair. I would have also given it a good dash of unsharp mask, as it is out of focus. To me that would have made this shot a bit more interesting. It would have made the viewer wonder where he was going. In this shot, nothing is left to mystery. There is no interest here at all for me other than a shot of a child walking. As is, and as a candid, this is a 3 for me.

I'm not sure this picture is really capturing much of great interest. I'm not getting much in the way of expression or mood. It just seems to be a snap of the child as he walks in front of you. I understand the idea was to show the street, and give the sense of the 'long walk' but this just isn't doing it. For one thing, there are houses not that far away and home could be one of those as far as the viewer knows. The other problem is there isn't really anything we can see from this rear-view that gives the viewer an idea of the boy's emotions. One of way of capturing the feeling it looks like you were after is to shoot from a much lower viewpoint, either at the child's eyelevel, or even lower. This would have the two-fold effect (hopefully) of making the road appear more looming, and giving us more of an impression of the boy's experience because we are viewing everything from his eye level. If you shoot from even lower, it will give more of the feeling of a child looking up at the world of grown-ups.
