I know it's a little cliche, but I would have liked to have seen the words floating in the bowl. Very creative!

Great colors. Only other thing I would have done would be to slightly rotate the image so that the corner is vertical.

IMHO, this is superior to the original. You might want to crop up from the bottom just a bit to eliminate the corner of the cushion. I like it very much. The green/white background is a lovely complement to the gray/brown fur. Love IT!

Greatings from the Critique Club

This photo is an excellent interpretation of the challenge. The intersecting lines, depth of focus and brilliant colors are amazing. The strong lines of the supports force the eyes up into the top of the shot, and then linger in the center of the wheel. There is only one part of the photo that draws away from the overall complexity of the image and that is the bottom of the landing. The darkness of the shadows and the repetition of the squares set this area apart from from the otherwise sunny and random patterns. Good work though, excellent interpretation.

Greetings from the Critique Club

I'm inclined to agree with the others on this one. The focus and color on this shot is excellent. However, I think a vertical composition with tighter cropping on the grass tree would help a lot. The colors are wonderful, but so much background out of focus distracts from the subject. Also, is there a black bug at the top of the shot? Good work. Keep submitting!

I think the top portion of this shot is very strong. The shadows and highlights in the beams play off each other nicely. I find, however, that the shot loses something in the lower half. It looks as though there was quite a bit of post-editing in the trees under the bridge. That isn't a bad thing, but the effects are not consistent. In some places the trees are deep and dark, but then look flat and undersaturated in a nearby area. I think I would have prefered to have seen the shot with consistently dark trees, causing my eyes to focus primarily on the beams hit by the sun. I like the composition, with the complex lines paired against the softness of the blue sky. Good work!

Greetings from the Critique Club.

First of all. Excellent job on your exposure. I can see that you're shooting in strong sunlight and yet the boy's face can be clearly seen. Very well done. The shot is in focus and you were able to stop most of the action. The ball is a little blurry, but that was most likely the fastest moving object in the shot. The only thing that takes away from the shot, IMHO, is the line of the fence cutting the boy in the head. It's escpecially highlighted by the bright patch of sun in his hair. If you were on your knees when you shot this, you might want to consider standing next time. That will change the position of the line in relation to the boy. Play around with standing on a chair (if possible) or maybe lying on the ground to get some new angles. Lastly, I love the little puff of grass behind the boy in blue. Excellent timing.

I like the first one. The framing and lines are very attractive. One thing I noticed, however, there is a sign, or writing, or something strange in the black space directly below the yellow square of sky. I won't suggest that you remove it since it's part of your photo, but once I saw it I kept looking at it. I wouldn't want your judges to be distracted by the same thing.

I had to go back to your photo three or four times before I could really get a handle on what I thought. I agree with arpita on the fact that it looks a little busy. The point where I get that busy feeling is when my eye looks at the focal flower. My eye moves down from there where I see two more blooms, then back up where I see at least two more. I would have like to have seen those uppermost two blooms removed and replaced with more green. IMHO, the single petal of the in-focus bloom at the top of the frame should also be removed. It looks a little lost. The out of focus bloom next to it is brilliant. I wish there were more of them. It's a nice way to repeat the color without taking attention away from your focal point. The other thing I enjoy about this is the dimensional contrast that you create. The lower 1/3 is practically one dimensional with the cream vase on a white background. The upper 2/3rds then is vibrant color and clearly multi-dimensional. I found it a bit jarring at first, but then quite beautiful once my eyes settled into it. Did you plan this, or was it a pleasant suprise when you looked at it on the computer? Definately keep some white space between flower stems, however, as it helps to balance out the upper and lower portions.

Whoa! I talk too much. :-) Anyhoo... I hope this was helpful. Very nice work. Print it!
