I really adore this playful image. You have a good imagination and a fine sense of humor. Thanks to you I really see that red pencil as a living human being who dreams about being in Hawaii and escaping the regimented life. I like the placement of the little pencils; the blue background (drawn by you I presume) makes for a nice little touch. Good light. I really appreciate this. You know I have gone through all the pictures and voted on all of them and I see a lot of pencils doing all sorts of things but often the context doesn't make much sense. Here you, however, has created a nice pencil life. Great job. 8 Journey

I've seen several other images with the same crossword puzzle theme and this is not my favorite one. The overall effect is a little snapshotish, sorry for saying that. I'm sure you tried hard. The composition could have been improved (the left arm andhand) and a bit more attention to details paid: the table cloth should have been straightened or totally removed since there is already so many elements in the picture. This is a very interesting and original presentation of the mundane pencil. Wonder how you did this. Ice? What I find somewhat unfortunate is that the middle pencilsin the foreground row and also in the background row are so blurred. Also, the light on the left pencils are somewhat bothersome. I will revisit this one lateron this week. I do appreciate originality and effort a lot though!. Journey

Nice touch how you actually used an eye pencil to draw on a drawing. Clever! Good clarity and good composition. Original too. What I don't like is the finger on the foreground. Because it is so close to the lens it is badly distorted and it reads as a very ugly shape. Because it is in the foreground it attracts quite a bit of attention, too. Otherwise great. 6 Journey

Find this a powerful and compelling image. It conveys strongly the feelings of awe and being overwhelmed this child must feel when entering school for the first day. I bet you will get some comments on why you did not crop out the right wall but I think it adds dimension to the overwhelming environment the child finds it in. You may also get comments on the doors being too dark and not having enough detail. Again, I suppose you did so deliberately to add to the child's feelings of darkness and awe. Well done. -9 Journey
