That doesn't say beauty to me, personally...in a weird way, almost the opposite. Sort of like showing a picture of McDonald's for "fine dining"...I don't mean that as a derogatory comment to the model (or the photographer), as she could be beautiful. I just mean that this photo looks like the cheap, shallow counterpart to 'beauty'.

Technically, the photo seems good.

HI Lee-

Thanks for such a warm welcome.

This was actually one of those "wasn't-thinking-much-about-the-shot-at-the-time" kind of photos. Roughly translated, I got lucky. :)

This was taken sometime near midday, with the sun high in the sky. We were in a park and I noticed the parking lot was made out of millions of tiny white-ish stones. So I thought, "giant reflector...cool".

So I had Carmella stand under the shade of a tree (the tree is in the image on the right) at the side of the parking lot and used the reflection of the lot for lighting. (That's why everything is lit from below -- and the shot actually benefits from the shirt she's wearing, because it allows you to see more lighting details. If she was wearing a t-shirt without any folds, it would not be as effective).

There was also a lot of ambient lighting in the scene as well. It created a nice soft lighting effect (and filled in some of the harsher shadows).

Anyway, this was one of a series of photos that I took and the one I liked the best.

I would like to point out that getting pictures like this straight from camera are nearly impossible (for me) as I find I hit the wall when it comes to the dynamic range of digital cameras.

Anyway, after adjusting the levels a bit in photoshop, this image is what I got.

Thanks for checking out my work! I really appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Zero Dean
