Comment by Niten:
This lacks interest to some degree. Clearly some people didn't understand that you meant to overexpose part of the frame.

I think you could improve this with a little more light and more DOF. Bring the ice in foreground into focus so I know its ice. Portrait style crop would eliminate some of the negative space.

I know this score ok but I like some of your other shots better. The composition doesn't seem right to me. The river is cut off by the rock.

Your right thats its no poster child for the challenge. You could add interest to this by making it some character everyone would recognize. How are your drawing skills?

I think this scored not so well because it would fit a fire challenge better than wind.

It seems a little dark to me. Also the shadow from your flash doesn't help. The background could be improved as well.

You could have used less sky. As a general rule try to leave the sky out of your photos unless it is pretty and blue or dramatic.

I think if you try a longer lens and create a more clear subject this could be a great shot.

Comment by Niten:
Taking shots like this and working with differant exposures is a good way to learn. The subject lacks intrest. The voters might have been a little to hard on this one though.

I think your subject(the infocus part) is a little small and centered. I think a differant composition would have more pazazz. However I do like the way you have hidden the sharp-to-blurry line.

Ah yes, I noticed this photo during the challenge, as I've taken photos of these plants before, and saw your cry for help in the forum. The colours are gorgeous, and are the strong point of the photo. Composition is the weak point however, it looks like you wanted the stem to be in the centre of the shot, and it isn't dead centre. Centre isn't usually a good place though unless you have a really good reason for it, and here it looks unimaginative. Compositionally, the rest of the photo is a bit of a mess and the shapes of the red leaves in the background let the shot down. The dof is great, although the stem could be sharper. The quality of the bokeh looks rather odd towards the bottom of the frame.
